Thanks for your continued interest in my forthcoming book. I am still hard at work on it, though I have to take frequent breaks to prevent eyestrain. It seems that I left my computer eyeglasses in Richmond on my last trip. I suppose that I will have to get another pair of glasses or go back to Richmond in search of the ones I forgot.
At present, I am reading through the text to see if the sentences are all in the right order. Then I have to go through all of the end notes to make sure that they match the text. I will also substitute short-form citations for full ones where appropriate. I still have to write letters seeking permission to use extensive quotes or illustrations. Beyond that, I will have to create an index. All of this could take several months, since the book is over 1,200 pages, not counting illustrations, and has over 7,200 end notes.
In the meantime, I am still looking further into some of the more difficult genealogical problems as I develop new insights, but most of my time is devoted to the tasks mentioned above.
