Yesterday, I received the abstract in English of the Dutch will I had been expecting to arrive later this month. I am now in the process of revising my biography of Thomas Pettus II of Littletown plantation to reflect the new information in the Dutch will. As mentioned in a previous message, Thomas went to Holland to recover the legacies specified in the will on behalf of the legatees in Virginia, including his wife, Mourning Burgh. Unfortunately for him, something took his life before he could embark on the return voyage. The money eventually did come to the hands of his executor, Maj. Lewis Burwell, who paid the legacies.
