During the past month, I have indexed over 90 pages of my 1,300+ page book. My wife has proofread and annotated 173 pages. The corrections are mostly quite minor.
Looking back at my old postings, I noticed that I had started indexing the book about a year ago. In the meantime, I have been to England and to Holland. These trips turned up new information that led me to revise some of the early chapters. Those revisions necessitated my redoing the index. I don’t expect to make any further revisions at this point, as I don’t want to have to redo the index again!
Tony Sims, an officer of the Norfolk Heraldry Society in Norfolk, U.K., has published a one-page article on the Pettus family in the recent issue of The Norwich Heart, a magazine devoted to Norwich, England. The article includes pictures of the recently restored Pettus monuments in St. Simon and St. Jude Church and mentions the activities of some twentieth-century American Pettuses who had close associations with the U.K. Please contact me if you are interested, and I will see if additional copies are available from the publisher.
