Hi All, I realize these "Pew postings" are nearly 6 years old, but I am wondering if anyone on this original thread could help me trace my ancestry back from Hannah Pew (1744-1826)
My family has Hannah's wedding certificate, to John Evans (1732-1792) and the Evans family later marries into my mother's family (Tree, and then Thomas) in Philadelphia and some of the surround.
I have no solid data on where Hannah was born, or who here parents were. But using Ancestry.com I do find a Hannah Pew born in Roxbury, Morris, NJ, in the right year. And so I am guessing this is my relative, since it is close enough to Philly where the family eventually moved.
Now Hannah's Parent is James Pew (1716-1778) born in Middletown, Monmouth, NJand If i keep trusting links to other people's trees (even trees without documented sources that I can see) I can see a John Pew (1677-175, who died inMiddletown, Monmouth, NJ with a son as James. All of this seems reasonably ok.
It is the big jump from John to his parents - Francis P DuPuy (1650-1753), and Geertje Willemse (1641-1688) that worries me most.We have a family name change here and then lots of data on the DuPuy family ... a family that I would be proud to be descended from!
Looking for sources and reassurance that this line is real. thanks! Bob
