Back about 5 years ago, I corresponded for a time with a Pat Henry (GENHISTORY@aol.com). We decided that we may have a possible link, still unconfirmed, with her William Pew and my Samuel Pew. I will copy here her e-letter to me of November 5, 1995:
She also at one point sent me a copy of a newspaper article, dated 4/10/40, describing how this family, travelling to Canada, cut their journey short to settle on the banks of Cayuga Lake, founding the town of Pewtown, now called East Lawn (near Ludlowville, just north of Ithaca). It was fairly interesting, and I can send you a photocopy if you're interested.
I have a suspicion that Samuel was a Loyalist and moved to Ontario after the Revolutionary War, as did the Lampman and Johnston families. There is not much I know about him, or his children, and nothing on his wife.
You mentioned a will by a William Pew. I would dearly love to have a copy of it, as Pat mentioned a Samuel listed in it. Please let me know if you can also help in information on him.
