In the instance above. They were Julien m 1. Emile Hubert, who died in 1851 and Julien Sr. married Julianne Marie Giroux.
The Julien with wife Virginie was the eldest of of Julien Sr. his wife was Virginie Paradis/Paradee/Paradise, who's found living with her father and children in the 1870 census. Apparently the Julien that died in 1868 was her husband, as Julien the father is in the 1870 census with his second wife, and more children.
Virginie went on to marry Henry Chenevert, who was also a widower. They appear together in the 1880 census though married 17 Jun 1880. One of her Phanuef children remained with her father and is listed as grandson. Another is with she and her new husband. There are some odd dates of other children, and its possible she had a husband in between 1870 and 1880? I do not have the records but have been able to glean some information from the various US census. Henry's first wife was Henrietta LaFevbre, but I don't have a date.
