You may find the freebmd.org.uk site and the 1901 census useful to progress to the next stage. Also, you may need to purchase some birth and/or marriage certificates because Gladys' father was called John and there are quite a number of John Phare's so you'll need to be sure of getting the right one! It's then a case of working backward using 1891, 1881 etc. census and birth and marriage records.
I am not directly related to Gladys but my own Phare family tree does show:- Gladys Maud Phare's birth registered in Stoke Damerel (very close to Devonport area) in Sept 1896 - this indicates she was born in July, Aug or Sep 1896.
The 1901 census (RG13, Piece: 2112, Folio: 69; Page: 26)shows Gladys living at 30 Hawthorn Grove, Devonport, Devon. Her father was John Phare b abt 1858 in Tavistock, Devon. Her mother was Kate b abt 1858 in Liskeard, Cornwall. Her siblings were John b abt 1887, Ada B b abt 1889, Rosetta b 1895, Cecilia Emily b 1897 and Hilda Alberta b 1893.
Gladys married Joseph Hartwell, the marriage was registered in Sept 1915 in Devonport. I believe Gladys and Joseph may have had 10 children (9 girls and 1 boy) but am not sure of that.
