Hello James RE: your post, on Genforum, snip "Notes for CYRUS PHILBROOK: Cyrus Philbrook was a mariner in the War of 1812, taken prisoner and confined in Dartmoor Prison in England. Then a farmer in 1817 following his father to Licking County Ohio. Cyrus and his wife Ann had 11 children. More About CYRUS PHILBROOK: Christened: Mariner in War of 1812, Farmer"
James, I was happy to find your message, because Cyrus Philbrook was my gr gr gr grandfather.as follows, his daughter Mary Ann Married Swain Williams, their daughter Rosa Williams married Charles Simon Gearhart, their daughter Bertha marriedMagnus Bottolfsen. Magnus and Bertha were parents to my dad, Charles Kenneth. I am wondering if you have any more information on Cyrus and his imprisonment during the war of 1812 in Dartmoor Prison in England? I also do not have a marriage date for Mary Ann Philbrook and Swain Williams. I am in possession of a letter written by a grand daughter of Mary Ann and Swain Williams and she states in her letter that her father Christopher Williams (brother ofRosa) had a wooden spoon that her gr grandfathercarved while he was in the war of 1812.I am almost positive that the gr grandfather she talks of is Cyrus Philbrook.I have found no other gr grandfather who served in the war of 1812.
I have tried searching the internet for Dartmoor Prison information, and have found some including pictures of the prison, but no list of prisioners. I would very much like to hear from you and we could compare notes on the family. Look forward to hearing from you. Please email me direct. at: firstname.lastname@example.org(that is an L before the @ sign) thank you Connie Bottolfsen Loftus
