I came across my Father-in-laws military records on the ship called the Giansar. The record was the ship's log of where they were in the Pacific during World War II. In the ship log it appears to be an entry for Joseph D. Picard who fell overboard and was lost in the sea for several days and found 3-4 days later. The date listed for the accident was December 24, 1944, They found his body 3-4 days later after looking for him and held a memorial service for him and flew the American Flag at half mast then buried his body on a small island in the Caroline Islands, Macronesia. It listed his service number. We found his military service record on Ancestry.com. If anybody in the Picard Family knows about this brave sailor please let me know. My husband's Dad served with him. My Father-in-law was Ensign Robert T. Person, Navigator. Howard C. Person, Littleton, CO.
