I too have a birth certificate for Herbert Pickup, born on the 9th July 1901 at Crawshawbooth, Lancashire, to John George Pickup and Jane Pickup formerly Haworth.
Unfortunately, I also have a death certificate for Herbert that shows that he died on the 10th July 1901 aged 4 hours! The cause of death is given as "Probably Premature Birth". His aunt, H. Hargreaves (Hannah, wife of Frank, formerly Hannah Haworth), registered (was the informant of) the death. Her address is given as 1 Bank Row, Crawshawbooth. Herbert is buried at Goodshaw Baptist Chapel.
Herberts parents were married on the 2nd February 1901 at The New Baptist Chapel, Goodshaw. John George Pickup wasborn on the 25th August 1875 at Pleasant View, Higher Booths, the son of a George Pickup (born 28th April 1849 at Goodshawfold) and his wife, Mary Emma, formerly Hacking (born 30th April 1850 at Height, Higher Booths). This George Pickup was the son of another George Pickup (born c.1815) and his wife, Sarah Pickup, formerly Pickup - yes that's right - same name! This George was in turn, the son of another George (born c.1771/72), just to make things worse.
Herbert was the first of 8 children (including another George, born 16th June 1913 at Burnley) that I am aware of, born to John George and Jane Pickup.
I have a lot of information on this family (as you may have gathered), although (as far as I am aware - who knows, if you can go far enough back), it is not part of my direct line.
The various people mentioned above, can be traced back through the censuses.
I hope that the above has been of help.
