Linda, John Pierpont Morgan's mother, Juliet Pierpont Morgan, was the daughter of Rev. John Pierpont and Mary Sheldon Lord Pierpont. Juliet married Junius Morgan of Hartford, CT. The book "Morgan" by Jean Strouse outlines the family genealogy accurately.
Mary Sheldon Lord was the daughter of Lynde Lord, Jr. of Litchfield, CT. and his wife Mary Lyman Lord. Mary Lyman Lord was the daughter of Joseph Lyman, Jr. of Northampton, MA.
Joseph Lyman, Jr.'s daughter Catherine married Warren Delano. Their daughter Sara (Sallie) married James Roosevelt, and their son was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Thus, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John Pierpont Morgan were third cousins. Both were second cousins of my great-grandmother, Mary Boardman Lima, who was the granddaughter of Henry Edwin Lord, son of Lynde Lord, Jr. and brother of Mary Sheldon Lord Pierpont.
James Lord Pierpont, son of Rev. John Pierpont and Mary Sheldon Lord Pierpont, was the composer of "Jingle Bells." He never claimed official authorship, and only through the efforts of two nieces (while he was dying) protected his copyright for future generations.
