Did you ever get a response to this query? If not, I'd like to try to help. Did you ever obtain a copy of Elizabeth Piette Champagne's death certificate (listed by someone on Ancestry.com as 05 June 1946 in South Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) See http://city.milwaukee.gov/DeathCertificates2947.htmhttp://city.milwaukee.gov/DeathCertificates2947.htm Or a copy of the marriage record of Elizabeth Piette and Joseph Champagne (6 May 1889, Terrebonne, Red Lake, Minnesota, USAper the same Ancestry member.) Red Lake County Recorder 124 North Main Street Red Lake Falls, MN 56750-0003 218-253-2997 It would be helpful to have either document to verify Elizabeth's parents' names.I don't find either record in online sources. Notice that on the 1880 census you mentioned, Lizzie Piette has an older sister named Rosa, age 32, born in Canada. That would give her a birth year of 1848.I did find a baptismal record of Sophie Rose Piette, daughter of Pierre Piette and Genevieve Desrosier, born and baptized 1 May 1848 in the parish of St-Felix-de-Valois, Joliette County, Quebec. The name Jane is often substituted for Genevieve for Canadian immigrants in the US, so this may be the same Rose and the same parents.Pierre Piette, son of Pierre Piette and Agathe Leveque married Genevieve Desrosiers-Lafrenière on 7 Feb 1842 in Ste-Elizabeth parish, Joliette County, Quebec. If you are able to verify through vital records that Elizabeth's parents were in fact Peter (Pierre) and Jane (Genevieve), then tracing the rest of her Piette line is no problem - Pierre Piette and Agathe Leveque are in my own family tree, and I'll be happy to share what information I have about that direct line.
