There was a PIGOTT family long associated with Luton.
It may have had connections with the PIGOTTs of Abington, Cambs.
But it did not include my relation, Henry Pigott NEWLAND, Corn Merchant of Luton. He was born Romsey, Hants, 1838, son of Robert NEWLAND & Frances KEMP. Frances was b Romsey, 1820, daur of William KEMP & Sophia PIGOTT. Sophia was b Compton Chamberlain, Wilts, 1783, daur of John PIGOTT, late Capt, 39th Regt, India, by Jane BENNETT. John PIGOTT was b Ireland, ca 1730, son of Robert PIGOTT, Lieut in a Regiment that became the 39th Regt. Robert PIGOTT was of Antigua & Kilcromin/Dysart, Queen's Co, Ireland, an elder brother of my ancestor, Capt John PIGOTT (ca 1705-1763) of Antigua, Dublin, & Stradbally, Queen's Co.
If you know anything about the NEWLAND/KEMP/PIGOTT family in Luton, I would be delighted to establish contact.
