I strongly disagree that Conrad Piles was a son of John Piles of Orange County, NC. To begin with, Conrad (or Coonradt) WAS GERMAN. His great grand daughter (my great great grandmother) spoke with a definite German accent. Conrad Piles Sr. lived among other German settlers in Orange County. There is some evidence that his name was originally spelled Poiles before he left Pennsylvania.
I think the fact that John Piles also lived in Orange County NC is not sufficent proof to tie him to Conrad. Statements in family history books are often in error, but are accepted as gospel and are hard to eradicate.
