Hi, this is a definite match. My memory of dates was not too good. Here is the "official" information I have in my (sister's) notebook:
John A. Pilkenton born May 26, 1831 in Tipton County TN married Mary C. Garrison born Feb. 11, 1837 in Obion County TN
Our family stories have Mary as a full blood Cherokee but we cannot find her in any of the offical rolls.
John & Mary's children:
William P. born 1861 in MO Hannah E. born 1865 in MO John born 1867 in MO Anna born 1869 in MO Ellen born 1871 in MO Alice Judy born Mar. 20, 1874 in MO married ? West Benjamin Sidney born Feb. 19, 1879 in Aurora MO married Clara Belle Claton (my grandparents) Scott birth date unknown and may not have lived long
Most of the family lived in and around Aurora which is in Lawrence County and not far from Mt. Vernon.
On Henry & Ellen, this was all I had:
Henry B. Pilkington born 1800 in NC or KY married Ellen ? born 1803 in NC
children: John A. married Mary C. Garrison Henry Jr. married Nancy Jane Smith Richard married Ruthy Nance Angis N. married Joseph P. Lasiter Tabitha married Lutian Mullins Mathilda married George T. Cavemar
I din't have any other dates, so thanks for the new information!
Most of my aunts and uncles (Ben's children) had brown hair and green or brown eyes.More than a few of their children had freckles, especially when we were children.
Mt. Vernon sounds very familiar. When I was a child, I remember visiting a cemetary (in Aurora or Mt. Vernon) where I saw John & Mary's graves. At that time, I don't think we knew about Henry & Ellen, but I'll bet they were buried close by).
