Hi... My grandmother was a Pilkay(Eva Pauline) and her name had been changed from Peltier when they came from Canada to the states. The dialectal pronunciation of the name Peltier, was quite common for a T to be pronounced as a K in some French dialects. Hence Pelletier, Peltier = Pilkay, Pelky, Pelkie.Just wondering if anyone else had run into this. I have been looking in vain for any info on my Pilkays. They were:Alfred (Peltier) Pilkay, his wife Mary Louise La Que Pilkay.Alfred's father was Henry Peltier and his wife was a Canadian indian named Lettie Grey.We think they were from Ontario Canada. This Pilkay family settled in Anderson and Knox Co.s TN. Ring any bells for anyone? Thanks!
