Dear Neva, Thank you for your note! I will need to go through my papers on the Marcums and see if I have anything specific mentioning Lois Carroll. I'll be happy to share it with you if I do.
Please e-mail me direct and give me your e-mail address so we can correspond off line for some of this. I can also e-mail you some forms that may be helpful for trying to locate that birth certificate, but it wouldn't be appropriate for me to do it on-line at this site.
When was Lois Carroll born? The state of Virginia did not have a law for registration of births and deaths between the years of 1896 to 1912, so if she was born during that time, that may be why there is no official record.
Neva, I would love to swap some pictures with you, as it seems we share the same relatives. I'd LOVE to have copies of the ones of Sarah and Rachel as girls. I have a picture of Rachel, Sarah and Alice (Alice was their sister and my grandmother)standing together. They were grown women in this photo. If you would share a copy of the one of Rachel and Sarah as girls, I'll be happy to pay for any cost for reprints or mailing. Or if you have a scanner, a scanned copy by e-mail would be great! I surely would appreciate it, as I've tried so hard to find out something about Sarah and Rachel. If you want a copy of the one I have of the 3 sisters together, let me know your address when you e-mail me directly, and I'll send you one.
I also have some others you might be interested in. Do you have a Gertie Mullins in your family tree? I have a photo of her from the 1930s.
I'm originally from Virginia too. What part of Virginia do you live in? Betty
