Rosilla Kirch married John Christopher Pillot and moved to Texas. I have heard him called both John and Christopher.Rosila was born in Greig,Lewis County, NY, the daughter of John Nicholas Kirch and Magdelena Buckingham Kirch. Magdelena was known as "Laney", and her gravestone actually says Laney. John Nicholas Kirch was the son of Peter Kirch and Catherine Matz Kirch from Holbach,Alsace Lorraine,France. Peter (born 1802) and Catherine (born June 23, 1809) came to America in 1847 with Jean-Michel, born 1836,Peter, born 1838, Emma, born 1840, John Peter born 1841 and twins Hannah and Nicholas born 1844. John Nicholas was born at "Kirch Hill", Grieg, NY, in Lewis County. Catherine was said to be an "Italian Princess" and a niece of Napolean Boneparte, but that story has never been proven. Catherine died October 15,1874 and was buried in St. Peter's cemetary in New Bremen, NY. Peter got upset that no-one would call him "Sir Peter" and he went back to France and wasn't heard from again. Jean-Michel changed his name to Michael Church and is buried in Lowville, NY.
John Nicholas married Magdelene Buckingham daughter of John M. Bockenheimer and Anna (or Nancy) Streif, both buried in St. Peter's cemetary in Croghan, NY, Lewis County.Magdelene was known as Laney, and even her gravestone in St. Peter's Cemetary in New Bremen says Laney. Laney and John Nicholas had 8 children, Mary (known as Minnie),Anna, Frederick Nicholas, Katherine (known as Kate), Laura, Rosilla, Charles and Florence. Minnie was born April 12, 1869 in New Bremen and died January 07, 1951 in Martha's Vineyard, MA. She married Edward ("TED") Harwood and had 4 children. Anna was born March 04, 1871 in New Bremen, married Frank Tiffany and had one son, Lansing. She died October 24, 1918, when the story says the Dr's couldn't treat her appendicitis because they were so overwhelmed with the Great Flu epidemic. She died in St. Luke's hospital in Utica NY. Frederick Nicholas and Anna were very close and he was very good friends with her husband Frank Tiffany. Frederick married Frank's daughter from a previous marriage, Letty Tiffany, so his brother-in-law became his father-in-law! Anyway, they were my grandparents. Fred and Letty had 3 daughters, Marion, Eleanor and Letty Elizabeth.
But to get back to Rosilla's family.. Kate was born October 29, 1876, married Scott Graves and died in 1954.Laura Kirch was born August 08, 1878 and married Archibald Delmarsh. They ran Rocky Point Inn in Inlet, NY for many, many, years. Their children were Archibald Jr, and MaryJane Delmarch. When Anna died, Frank stayed with Laura and Archie for a time. They were all very close. Laura died Dec. 21, 1934 and was buried in Riverview Cemetary, Old Forge, NY. Rosilla was born April 12, 1880 and married John Christopher Pillot. Their children were John, Eleanor and Christine. She died November 03, 1949 in Houston, TX. Charles was born July 21, 1884 and married Jennie. His son Charlie was a teacher at Paul Smith's college in Gabriels, NY. Charles died June 29, 1966. Florence was born October 11, 1886 and died August 11, 1897 at age 10 years, 10 months. No cause given. Marion Young remembers her father talking about it and thinks she may have died from consumption, but we don't know for sure. She was buried in St. Peter's cemetary, New Bremen, NY.
I hope this helps. If you find out any more about the Pillot side of the family, I would love to fill in more blanks.
