I'm stumped on one of my personal research projects and could use any assistance.
1870 US Census - Ausable - all residing on the same property:
Napoleon Pine, 21, born Canada
Celinda Pine, 21, born NY
Erastus Pine, 2, born NY
Joseph Young, 29, born NY
Louisa Young, 27, born NY
Katie Young, 5, born NY
Joseph H. Young, 4, born NY
Charles Tefft, 34, born NY
Emily Tefft, 25, born NY
Harry Tefft, 3, born NY
Peter Laflamme, 53, born Canada
Mary A. Laflamme, 44, born VT
Angeline Laflamme, 22, born NY
Peter Laflamme, 15, born NY
Franklin Laflamme, 13, born NY
Felix H. Laflamme, 11, born NY
Julia Laflamme, 9, born NY
Sarah E. Laflamme, 5, born NY
Margaret Laflamme, 1, born NY
Peter Laflamme of age 5 was my great-grandfather and his parents were my great-grandparents. Emily Tefft and Louise Young were also daughters of Pierre/Peter and Marie Anne/Mary A. My question is what is the connection (if any) of the Pine family to the Laflammes?
Also in Ausable in 1870 were these other Pine families - just a few houses away:
Phelix Pine, 28, born Canada
Denise Pine, 30, born Canada
Theodore Pine, 2/12, born NY
John Pine, 31, born Canada
Emily Pine, 28, born Canada
Joseph Pine, 6, born NY
Henry Pine, 4, born NY
Wilfred Pine, 7/12, born NY
Catherine Pine, 69, born Canada
I believe that John, Phelix, and Napoleon were brothers and sons of the widow Catherine.
In 1880 at Ausable, these are the consecutive households:
John Pine & family
Napoleon Pine & family
Oliver Young & family
Charles Tefft & family
All of the Laflamme daughters are accounted for so Celinda could not be one of Pierre & Marie Anne's.
Pine appears to come from the French Despin, also seen as Despins, Despains, etc.
I found no entries in Pontbriand that could be these people. I also went through St John the Baptist of Keeseville and still found nothing.
Next, I checked Tanguay and found that among the dit names was Giguere. Joseph Giguere and Catherine Vadeboncoeur dit Parnier married in 1825 at St Famille, Montmorency.
Pontbriand has only one entry for their daughter Adelaide who married at Keeseville to Isaac Baillargeon in 1860. There were a few entries for children to them and among the Godparents were Joseph Giguere (and variant spellings) and his wife Celina Desrochers. There were entries for children of them also.
The only possible connection that I can find is that Alexis Boisseau was a Godfather for one of the children. Alexis was married to Emelie Laflamme, a sister of Pierre SR.
Can anyone shed some light on this family?
