I have some conflicting information concerning my Pineo Line.
My 2nd great grandmother is Susan Elizabeth "Lizzie" Pineo who married Benjamin Stowell Souther in Hingham, Massachusetts on 1 April 1862.
On her marriage certificate it says she was born at Boston, Massachusetts and her parents are: Henry D. Pineo and Jemima Porter.
On her death certificate it lists her birth date as 22 Feb 1842 in East Boston and father’s name as George Pineo (informant was her son, Frederick Souther).
On her sister’s death certificate (Abby La Havre Pineo) shows her birth as 16 Jul 1844 in Boston and parents as Henry Austin Pineo, b. Nova Scotia and Jerimah Porter, b. Nova Scotia.
In the “History of Hingham – the Genealogies” it shows her as Elizabeth Pineo, daughter of Henry and Jemima (Porter) Pineo of Boston, b. at Boston 22 Feb 1842.
Other secondary sources list her father as Austin Perigreen Pineo and Henry Dustin Pineo.
She had an older brother named George and a younger “unknown” sister.
Her name of Susan Elizabeth Pineo, Elizabeth Pineo and Lizzie Pineo all seems to fit.
Her mother as Jemima / Jerimah Porter doesn’t seem to be a problem.
The father seems to have the most conflicts in name. Henry Austin Pineo – which I think is the most correct Henry Dustin Pineo George Pineo Austin Perigreen Pineo
A “D” or “A” or Dustin or Austin could easily be misinterpreted in reading old writing, but his name “George” – maybe it was confused with the “uncle” George given by the nephew when his mother died, but Austin Perigreen Pineo is way off.
Does anyone have any comments or "primary" evidence to show which is correct?
Appreciate hearing from anyone that may have some clues. Thank you for your time
