I know of two Stokes Pinion. One is the son of the Revolutionary War Patriot Reuben Pinion (1752-1843) by his first wife, name unknown.Refer to deeds in Anson Co. NC on Rocky River. This Stokes married Nancy Talley and had the following children:(1) Elizabeth: (2) Rebecca married first Andrew Brown and second James Garrard; (3) Polly married Jeremiah Barker; (4) Jacob died April 17 1863 at Petersburg Va during the Civil War.He enlisted at White Co. GA in 1861; and (5) Jeptha b. 1823 d. 1907 married Nancy E. Darnell.
The other Stokes Pinion that I know of is: Per the 1850 Marshall Co. TN census family #221 page 112. He was born 1820 NC, wife Polly b. 1823 TN, daughter Betsy P. b. 1846 TN.I think he possibly may be a son of Young Pinion, brother of Stokes, who also went to Marshall Co. TN by 1850 per census Page 112 family 218.The 1820 census of Anson Co. NC had one son born between 1810/1820.
My ancestor Benjamin W. Pinion and wife Jane Vickers also were in Marshall Co. TN in 1850 page 116 family #270 however, he returned to Stanly Co. NC by 1860.His father Thomas Pinion and wife Sarah/Sally were in Giles Co. TN in 1850.Thomas is also the son of Reuben. I hope this is helpful. Betty K. Price
