Roy, I don't know how the John and Elizabeth (Ingram) Pinion fits in because Thomas2 was son of Benjamin Paniel. Thomas was the Administrator for Benjamin's estate.I suppose that it is possible that John was the grandfather of Thomas, thus being the link to William, the immigrant to Virginia in 1643.What makes you think that our Pinions were in Pennsylvania? I was not aware that there was a 1776 census and a 1786 census of Surry Co. NC.The first Federal census was made in 1790.Can you get the 1776 and 1786 census from Mr. Poe?
I notice that your ancestors descend from Benjamin and Elizabeth (Judd) Pinion/Pennell, brother of my Reuben and his first wife unknown.I did not continue the research on Benjamin after I learned from Mr. Poe that Benjamin remained in Wilkes Co. and was not the B. Pinion on the 1840 Montomgery Co. NC census who was listed as a Rev. War pensioner.Evidently the "R" for Reuben had too much of a curve at the bottom of the letter giving the impression it was a "B". As a result, I do not have any information of your Thomas and Elizabeth (Berry) Pennell and their descendants. In fact, I never researched the spelling "Pennell" at all. I'm sorry that I can't be ofany further help.I hope that you are gathering copies of the documents when you come across them. Each one will help with another.Be sure and follow up on the females as sometimes this too can help. Good luck in your search. The answer is out there somewhere but it takes time. Betty
