Cynthia, The research of the Fauquier County Pinkards is very confusing, but I have some information that I believe may help you. Mildred Dodd was married to William Pinkard/Pinckard Jr. His will was dated 25 Apr 1798 and recorded 23 Feb 1801. His father was probably William Pinckard Sr., of Lancaster County, VA who died in 1762 and his mother was probably named Mary, surname unresolved. I don't have documented proof of this, but a few other Pinckard researchers are looking at this scenario. This William Sr. was the son of John Pinckard Jr., son of Capt. John Pinckard that died before 10 Dec 1690.
What dates do you have for the James Pinckard in Fauquier who had a son, William? I have the record of a James Pinckard who purchased a portion of the estate of John Rust, returned 22 Jul 1782. This James may be William Jrs. brother. Is it this James whose son, William, married Elizabeth Duff?
William Sr.- estate division recorded 15 Dec 1762. Sons: Spencer, Thomas, Jeduthan. Mary Pinckard. - will rec. 17 Feb 1785. Sons:Jeduthan, James, William, Thomas and John. Dau: Amy Pitman.
I have a record of a Spencer "Pinchard" marrying Betsy Marshall, 30 Aug 1799 Culpeper. (VA Marriages to 1800. Jordan R. Dodd). I have also seen evidence that there was a subsequent Spencer Pinckard - unclear whether he was a Jr., but most likely a grandson of William Sr. and Mary.
Does anyone have any information on the other sons of William Sr?
