Here is a little info out of a book . Peter Pinnell came to Missouri as a French Furtrapper from S.C. He was born in S.C. May 20, 1755 and as a young man fought with the S.C. troops in the Rev. War. Of the family of Peter Pinnell was one son, who at the age of eleven moved with his family to Kentucky from S.C., then at the age of 17 to Crawford Co. MO. Several more moves were made, first back to KY. then to Washington Co. MO. and then after the death of his father on June 6, 1845, to Texas. Finally he came back to MO. where he died in 1864.
Hiram Pinnell fought in the war of 1812 and for his service was granted homestead rights to 640 acres. He chose the land along BrushCreek. and the Diary kept by his daughter, Cyrena, tell us that Hiram was the first white man to settle in this area and his house was the first to be built in this part of Mo.
Cryena Pinnell married John Taylor.Thereis quite a bit of info in this book about this family. Hope this helps someone!!Glenda
