For any of you who were thinking of joining the Pipkin Y-DNA genetic genealogy project, I've received some great news! The company we are using for our testing has issued gift certificates for me (the project administrator) to use. Once you order a test kit, I activate the gift certificate, and you will receive a credit for that amount on your credit card. For example, if you order the Y-DNA 25 marker test, you will initially pay full price, but then you will receive a $20 credit on your credit card account. This is really a great offer, but it's only valid until Dec 31st, and as you can see below, I was only given 2 gift certs for 25 marker, and 2 for 37 (or 67) markers. There are also 2 mtDNA gift certs, but that type of test is not useful for our project. Remember, the test is for males who carry the surname of Pipkin. Females can order the kit for a qualifying male. Once the kit is ordered, I receive a notice, and then I contact the company with your test kit number, and they issue the credit to your account. (I never see your credit card number) Below are some details that I received. Susan
As we enter the 2006 Holiday Season, Family Tree DNA would like to thank all our Group Administrators for their support during this and past years.
We would also like to take this opportunity to give each Surname Project a $130 gift in the form of 6 Gift Certificates - 2 $30 for Y-DNA37 or 67, 2 $20 for Y-DNA25 and 2 $15 for mtDNA - that will be valid according to the following terms:
a) Not valid in conjunction with any other promotion or offer
b) Each gift certificate is to be used with one new test kit, according to what is marked in the certificate
c) Kits must be ordered and paid for by December 31st, 2006
e) Not valid for test upgrades, add-ons or Y-DNA12.
