Jean, None of your names are familiar but my ggrandfather came to this country about the same time as your ancestor and also settled in Wisconsin. We believe he was in Farmington for a few years, married Mary Schwandt also from Pommerania, then moved with the railroad to Iowa. It seems that a lot of Pommeranian immigrants worked for the railroad. There was at least one other Piske in Wisconsin, Christlieb. He also came from Gross-Poplow but we can't determine any relationship. Your town names are not familiar but there are several Pommerania pages on the web where you can get more information. Try this link for maps of Pommerania and some history of the area: http://www.execpc.com/~kap/pommern/http://www.execpc.com/~kap/pommern/ At one time I found a link that had Pommeranian surnames and the towns associated with them. Unfortunately, I lost the link and haven't found it again yet. If you find anything on August Ferdinand Piske, born 31 Jan 1849 in Gross-Poplow, or Mary Helen Amelia Schwandt born 5 Sep 1854 in Stoltzenhagen, Pommerania - let me know!
