I read your message and perhaps you have some data to help me. I recently had a response to the Harmer Message board that helped me clarify a brick wall I have had for years. Samuel Harmer and Catherine Ollis/Olly/Olley Harmer married 10/25/1790 in West Berlin, Norfork England. Children: Marianne, Violet, Thomas (died at 3), Francis, John, Easter, Sarah, William, and another Thomas. Violet Harmer had an illegitimate daughter named Dinah Harmer born 4/23/1807 who in turn had 2 illegitimate children Thomas Harmer born 10/20/1827 (my g-g-grandfather) and William Harmer born 8/31/1834. Their mother Dinah later married a William Pitcher and in 1836 moved to Canada with her son William. I am trying to trace whether my Thomas perhaps was the son of William but did not assume his last name because of being born out of wedlock. Dinah and new husband William did not take Thomas with them when they moved from here in Northern NY to Canada despite that Thomas would have been only 9 years old. Any stories to make a connection for me?
