P.P. Pitchlynn in 1859
Hello,
I am looking for some rather specific information about P.P. Pitchlynn.
I am not related (so far as I know), but his name appeared as a witness on an ancestor's patent on January 18, 1859 (I have a copy of this document with P.P. Pitchlynn's signature). Our ancestor is Ferdinand M. Sofge and his residence is shown (on the patent) as Columbus, Georgia. He is a particularly elusive rascal, so I am checking all possible leads to pin him down. (Ferdinand Sofge does not appear in the Georgia census for 1850 or 1860 or Muscogee County land records for that time period). My question is: to all you Pitchlynn researchers is, would it make any sense that a P.P. Pitchlynn would be located in the Muscogee County, Georgia environs in the late 1850s? (Muscogee County is on the western border of Georgia). I am particularly looking for documentation of P.P. Pitchlynn's whereabouts in the 1850s-1860. [And if anyone could tell me if there might be more than one P.P. Pitchlynn during that time period, that would also be helpful!]
Thanks!
Chris Sofge
