My grangmother, Katarryna Plachta, married Andreas Ratajaki in about 1876.It looks like they immegrated to the U.S. in 1880. Assumed to be married in Poland. They settled in Phila., Pa. Katarryna had 13 children, 8 were living in 1900.Andreas died in 1901 and Katarryna remarried, to a Peorun. Am still looking for immagation records.Yes, my Mom and her sisters spoke Polish so that none of us could understand their conversations.Little did they know that Dad, the old Irishman started to pick up the language. He really had a good time before telling my Mom and her many sisters. And I miss Mom's potato noodles (I don't know what they really were called). Any recognition (or comments)would be astounding and welcome.
