I am looking for descendants of my 3rd great grandfather, Charles Plante.I am a descendant of his second marriage to Angelique/Angeline LaCroix. This marriage occurred 13 Jul 1824 in Saint Joseph de Chambly, Quebec, Canada.
He may have had 4 children by his first marriage to Marguerite McMalledge: Julie born 19 Jun 1815; Aurelie born 26 April 1817; Charles born 27 Feb 1819 and Edouard who was born and died in 1821.
The only children that I know of from his second marriage are Angeline Victoria born 16 Feb 1842 and Eleanor Aurella "Ella" born 19 Jan 1846 both of whom were born in New York State. "Ella" was my ancestor.
On the 1860 census this family is in Ashburnhan, Worcester, MA.There is a 7 year old Josephine living with the family.Josephine was born in Rhode Island. She may be another daughter or a granddaughter.
Angeline Victoria Plante married James Bowes. She died in 1916 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.I have found 4 children: George born about 1868 in Massachusetts; James Arthur born 1869 in Massachusetts and died 1931 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Alice born about 1878 in Massachusetts and Charles born about 1880 in Massachusetts. At least James and Alice married.
"Ella" married Joseph Burns/Burness.She died 16 Feb 1943 in Marlbourough, Middlesex, Massachusetts. She had 4 children, but only one married.
With such a large gap between Charles and Angelique's marriage date (1824) and the birth of their first known child (1842), I assume that there are additional children whom I have not identified.I do not know when the family came to the United States from Canada except sometime between 1824 and 1842.I do not know exactly where in New York state Angeline and Ella were born (although indications are it was in the eastern part of that state; Troy, Athens and Jewett City have been mentioned).I do not know when they left New York for Massachusetts except sometime between 1846 and 1860.And if Josephine was a daughter, they were in Rhode Island around 1853.
Any help would be much appreciated.I'll be glad to share what information I have.
