PAINFUL ACCIDENT - Thomas PLETTS, a hunter residing in Cherokee Lane, about 2 miles from the Mokelumne river, sustained a sad accident on Monday last, by the accidental discharge of his gun, which went off as he held his left hand over the muzzle, and shattered the hand so badly that 2 of the fingers have already been amputated, and it is feared that the 3rd finger will suffer likewise. The wounded man was brought to the Columbia House, where he now lies and is receiving medical attention from Dr. A. CLARK. He bears his suffering with uncommon fortitude, and will soon be restored to health, though the mutilation of his hand will prove a great misfortune to him.
