I believe her father was Fred (son of Julius).Mary Helen is living with Fred in the 1920 census in Tioga PA.I am not sure how they ened up in PA from South Dakota. In 1930 Mary Helen (and twin Joseph) is living with her uncle Robert (son of Julius).
This is what I have come up with by looking at census records.Below the descendant chart is a the notes and census records I made.

Believe Fred married a Eunie "June" Carter some time after 1920.Eunie also married Austin Smith and Zeke Witzel. However, I think Eunie was Fred's second wife and not the parents of the children listed since he is listed as a wifow in the 1920 census.I will have to ask my cousin Mary Ann if any of this sounds familiar.Eunie died in 1966 in Butler Co., PA which is where Fred's daughter Mary Helen married Theodore Stokey.

Her step mother may have been Eunie "June" Carter who married Austin Smith, Fred Plutchak, and Zeke Witzel.Eunie died in Butler Co., PA in 1966.It seems that Mary Helen had a rough childhood with her mother dying when Mary Helen was very young (before she was 4 yrs old.)It appears that her father died before she was 13 years old.She was probably shuffled around to live with relatives quite a bit.She lived in at least 3 different states before she was 13: South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Let me know what you think. Thanks for replying. Bonnie
