Hi Brenda, Jerry, my husband, is William Minor Plyler's grandson. He and Uncle Math are brothers. Will, we thought until recently, was the oldest child of Wesley and Margaret. But we found two little syblings buried beside their parents at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Campground. Little Dora was their first born, and then Will. Little Dora died at age 3.Then there was little Sameul L. who was 5 when he died.He was born just after Will.Grandma Jessie used to tell us that he was injured playing leap frog and died from these injuries. So William Minor was their oldest living child. The family didn't talk much about Rachel, even though she was here with Will and Jessie many times.Jessie would tell me that she had a pet coon.I think she died in this community, but we have no idea where she was buried.Aunt Collie Lovanda Plyler Shannon, told me what she knew about her grandmother. She said that she did come from Lancaster County, SC and moved just into Union County NC and that she was never married. That has been a long time ago, when Jerry and I were looking at census records, before Aunt Collie died. She knew a lot about her family, but back then I didn't know what to ask, and now all our old folks are gone and we wish we knew them better.Jessie and Will adopted Joe when he was 6 months or so; his parents, Reinhardts, died 5 days apart in 1918 of the Spanish Influenza. So as we searched, we found that our two original ancestors;Henry Bleiler b. abt 1722, married to Maria Christina Reinhardt, b. abt 1723 in Germany. So it was very interesting that Jerry's biological family is entertwined with his adopted family. We have a lot of dates on the Plyler side. We have one son and 2 daughters and 7 grandchildren, 4 of which are in Shanghai, China.I'd like for the children to at least know some of their family, since that is our name. We live here in Waxhaw in the same place Will and Jessie and her parents lived for most of their lives, so at least 3 generations. There must have been something in Grandma Rachel's past that kept her history from being published, perhaps as some of the stories about Native American etc. There are many Plylers in Lancaster, Chesterfield and Union County. And I know that they are all apart of this clan. We may never know exactly our ancestry, but we can know more than we did because there are records.I would love to find out where she was buried. Wesley was her oldest son, but Margaret, her only daughter was the oldest child, then Calvin, who I have found in the census with his wife Nancy, and 2 small children; Rufus and David; then Minor, whose family all live within a mile of us and his grandchildren as well and then George was the baby and I can't exactly find him.We think that according to family stories that he was a huge man and died early, but we think he was married.I like looking for our families lives and memories.I forgot where you live.We will keep looking and asking.
