I am researching the Pocock's of Bristol from 1700 onwards and would be glad to exchange data.
I'm mainly interested in the descendants of Nicholas Pocock b.1709 & Mary Innes b.1715 but I'm also including other Pococks in the area as they probably link up somewhere in the past.
One link in particular is with GEORGE POCOCK b.1801 in Frome who was famous for inventing the 4 string kite and was also the grandfather of famous british cricketer W.G. Grace. Does anyone know if he was linked to Nicholas' tree.
The other GEORGE I'm trying to connect is the grandfather of Roger Pocock (author & pioneer) and his sister Lena Ashwell (Pocock) O.B.E. the actress. Their grandfather George was said to be the nephew of Nicholas Pocock the marine painter and captain of the ship "Lloyd". George was born abt.1795 and married Frances Ashwell in 1820. Nicholas' father (also Nicholas) had 3 other sons that I know of John Innes b.1743, Sir Isaac b.1751 & William Innes b.1754. So George must have been the son of one of these 3 (or maybe a later son)
