Rev.John Fawcett Pogue was born Dec 29, 1814 in Wilmington, Delaware. Married Maria Kapule Whitney, May 29, 1848 Honolulu, Oahu. Died December 4, 1877 Laramie, Wyoming. He graduated from Marietta College in Ohio in 1840 and Lane Theological Seminary in 1843. Maria Kapule Whitney was the first missionary daughter born in the Hawaiian Island. Her parents were Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Whitney. She was sent to the states at age six to be educated. She graduated class of 1840 from Mt. Holyoke College and returned to Hawaii on the brig "Globe" which sailed from Boston Harbor on Dec. 4, 1843. This was the ship on which Pogue also sailed. They arrived Hawaii on July 15, 1844. They had four children: Samuel Whitney 1849-1902 Jane Knox 1851-1932 Emily Elizabeth1853-1910 William Fawcett 1856-1952 Married Emma Victoia Saffery Rev. Samuel Whitney was born April 28, 1793 in Branford, Connecticut. Married Mercy Partridge, October 4, 1819. Died December 15,1845, Lahainaluna, Maui. Mercy was born August 14, 1795 in Pittsfield, Mass. Died Dec. 26, 1872. They had four children: Marie Kapule 1820-1900 Samuel Worcester 1822-1905 Married 1. Catherine Eudocia Kent 2.
