Today I found and purchased a picture of Stephen Perkins Price at an Antique Store in Huntsville, TX.The picture also refers to Hawkins Pogue.
He was born on 22 Jan 1854, Logan Co, KY and died 22 Aug 1919 in New Orleans, LA.His wife was Mary E ____ b. abt 1860, KY.
I have found him in the following censuses:
1860 Logan Co, KY 1870 Logan Co, KY 1900 Jefferson Co, AL 1910 Shelby Co, MS
He might also be listed in the 1880 census of Warren Co, KY; but I'm not positive this is him.According to the 1900 census they had 6 children, 2 living.
Here is what is on the back of the picture:
"Grandpa Price - My grand father on my mother's side. A Fine man, I liked him very much. He was a machinist and Round-house foreman for the L & N Railroad. I was named after him and my other grandfather Hawkins Pogue. Stephen Perkins Price born Jan 22 1854m Died Aug 22, 1919."
The Hawkins Pogue referred to is in the 1900 census of Etowah Co, AL.The person that wrote the note was Stephen Hawkins Pogue b.25 May 1902; d.3 May 1979, San Antonio, TX.He is listed in the 1920 and 1930 censuses of Jefferson Co, AR.His father was Marshall Pogue b.1876, AL
I am not connected to this family, just could not stand this being left in an antique store.Would like to get the picture back to some of the family.
