here we are almost 8 years later and I am no closer to finding an answer to this mysterious ancestor who we now call 'Ted'. I may have erred in stating that this particular Theodore who married Leah Cooper must be eliminated from contention for this 'honor'..it seems that he was still alive and kicking in 1843...it was his father who had died and this was the year that HIS will was proved. Also, I have recently been contacted by a person who seems to have a link to this particular Theodore Polhemus through what may possibly prove to be an additional son, Henry D. Polhemus. Is it possible that Theodore for whatever reason went to New Haven and one of his sons came with him?? The mystery deepens. What makes this even more interesting is the fact that this Henry named one of his daughters LEAH. If anyone has any clues to this mystery I would be most grateful for whatever help or suggestion you may have.
