In order for me to make my case to the true Genealogists, I need records. Using internet trees and the like, I've seen toomuch conflicting data, and little to none official records.
Edward's first known records are in Rowan, NC.1760. There is a really cool County timeline map on family101.com. It shows Bertie open to west till 1741 Johnston just south of Granville both wide open to the west in 1746 then Orange forms 1752 then Rowan to the west of Orange 1753. Your William Jr had 2 unknown brothers born 1720-1730, either died as infants or ??????? in Bertie which looks like the whole area at the time. Edward gets land in Rowan in 1760, which once was Bertie. Then recorded activity is readily evident. In 1760, Edward worked for a James Davis as a chain carrier. Both names are seen in Orange Co,Va 1760 (or did they mean NC.)and Rowan NC. Orange,Va. est 1734, is in the northern tidewater region of Va. Go to the PoolE family forum and punch post #3719. Read that and the follow-ups and tell me what you think. There is some possibility that my Pooles came from NJ, which doesn't fit the family story.
