Mary E. Poorman
Palmyra native Mary Elizabeth Poorman, 90, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at her home. She was the wife of the late Ernest Poorman.
She was born Jan. 29, 1913, and lived in Palmyra until 5 1/2 years ago, when she and her husband relocated to Linwood, N.J. She was an artist working under the name of "Marefpo" and created more than 200 oil paintings during her lifetime. Four of her final works were "Four Seasons on Bargaintown Lake," completed in 2002. She played piano and was an accomplished music copyist. She enjoyed gardening, golf and bowling. As a bowler, she competed both on the local and national level and was a member of 23 league championship bowling teams. She was elected to the Lebanon Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1994 when she was 80 years old. She was a member of Palm Lutheran Church in Palmyra, Bargaintown and Linwood AARPs, and St. Bernadette Senior Citizens Group in Northfield, N.J.
Surviving are son Ronald, husband of Karen Poorman of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a cousin.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Relatives and friends may gather with the family from 3-5 p.m. tomorrow at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, N.J.
