Dear Mr. Brown,
My gggranfather came from the same area. Although his siblings (two sons) later migrated to the providence of Donega, Ireland. I believe the name of the small town was called "Balleylennon." In turn three brothers came to the US, and settled in Pennsylvania. The some of the siblings like; John, Alexander, James moved to various parts of the country like; John Porterfield had a son by the name of Jackson who moved from North Carolina to Virginia. Jackson is my ggrandfather, remembering, he is now in Viginia (orange County). Jackson had several sons one by the name of Elisha. Elisha married a lady by the name of Cora Lee Cook (Va). They were married in Wythe county Va. They finally moved to Southeastern part of Missouri, namely Bonne Terre, Mo. Elsha agin had three sons like; Paul J. Porterfield. Paul J. Porterfield was my father, born in Bonne Terre, where he and my mother (Catherine Marler Porterfield0 moved to Florissant, Mo, which is out from the city limits of the city of St. Louis. Florissant, where I was born and raised, and I am still living. I hope this give you some idea of my side of the Porterfield. Also I discovered two cousins; one living in Polaski Co. Va, which is about 20miles from Wythe Co. Va, and another cousin living in Texas, who helped me do most of my research. If I can be of any help to you, please email me at [email protected] I am looking forward from hearing from you.
God bless,
Rev Paul Porterfield
