That's all I have on the family, itself.Florida Davis was the d/o of Joseph Emory Davis, who was the s/o Samuel Emory Davis.Joseph was the eldest child, and brother of Jefferson Davis, Pres. CSA.Thus Florida was Jeff's niece.
As to the question of the church there is here and there online some snippets about the Porterfield connection to some church in Mississippi.
If you use the www.google.com search and terms such as: porterfield, mississippi and any others that suggest themselves to you, you might be able to pull up those items.
As to whether these Porterfield are related to those in Belmont Co, OH, I don't know.I know the Vicksburg Laughlin and Porterfield came from IRE.
