Long time - no hear.Great to see you're up and around still doing genealogy.
Not too long ago, I found the following in some records of Guilford Co., NC and am wondering if they are of significance to us or perhaps these Portis' are of African American descent?I don't know.
Guilford Co...Bonds Records and Apprenticeships
Ira Portis, age 10, b. ca 1808 indentured to Jno. Chipman 11-21-1820 until age 21.
Isham Portis, age 6, b ca 1812 indentured to William Lambert and wife Margery 11-15-1819 to make malt and brew beer until age 21.
Silas Portis, age 11 b, ca 1807 indentured to Richard Hayworth 2-22-1817 until age 21.
I don't know whether this could be our ggrandfather or not.I did read some of the postings from Charlotte Wright.
Do you have any further info?I'm still looking for descendents from some of the other Porter children. So far, I only know of you and Tena.
Hope to hear from you soon.
