Dear Wiebe, I have only recently discovered your e-mail. I am a direct descendant of Wytze Feerks Postma: He was the great-great grandfather of my grandfather. He was born on 31-8-1750 in Buitenpost, married on 29-3-1789 with Maaike Riemers from Westergeest and died on 6-9-1812. He fathered 9 children; one of them was Riemer Wytzes, who later moved to Burum. He is the direct greatgandfather of my grandfather. The name is still in the family through my (deceased) father, Riemer and my daughter, Riemke.
Wytze Freerks adopted the name Postma in 1811 under the decree of Napoleon. Actually, if you look at the document our real family name is Postmus!
The direct ancestor of Wytze Freerks was Freerck Jans, his great grand father, born around 1660. His father, Jan (?) Freercks(?) must have been born around 1630-1635. Freerck Jans married Grietie Saekes from Gerkesklooster on 09-6-1679. They had two children, Jan and Sake. Jan stayed in Buitenpost, while Sake moved to Gerkesklooster. The Buitenpost 'branch' resided for some generations in Dijkhuizen, under Buitenpost.
I have more information available. Please send me your adress and any information you have, the latter preferably by mail. I will send you a copy of the 'scheme'I have sofar.
