Thank you for your commentary ~of which ~ I am totally aware of.The problem here lies in the fact that no one is "really" doing constructive research.Just because they find an item that someone has said, they do not ask for documentation of the information. They just accept it as gospel and record it as facts.AND ~ if you have done real genealogy research, you know that without documentation, it is worthless.I have tried to make people aware of this and instead of them taking my free advice, they try to make me look stupid. After forty years of this, it gets difficult to try to help anyone with their research. If everyone would pull together and do constructive research AND pool their resources, compare notes and documents, we would have the answers by now.But ~ I have run out of time and am on borrowed time now.I had hoped ~in my lifetime ~ that we would have the brick wall torn down but I have lost hopes of that.
I cannot understand why people have such closed minds and will not listen to the voice of experience but, that is their problem now, I am out of here.
You asked for help on your Grandmother, Hattie Mae Poston.I have nothing in my files on her but if you will post alittle more detailed information about her, I will keep a look out for her in my research. As for reasons for family being estranged ~ In my 50 years of research, I have found some of the silliest reason for this to happen. It is sad and heartbreaking for the descendants when they realize this happened.I am helping someone right now who cannot find a family member. They were told he died but from my research, I cannot believe that, I believe they split and the children were told he was dead.I don't know how to tell them this and for now, I will just be quiet until I can research further.
I was a volunteer at The National Archives for a while, where I gained a vast knowledge base of research.I do nottake family history lightly. To me ~ I want the truth ~ whatever it might be.I see no reasoning in doing research if you don't want the true facts.
Good luck in your research, if I can help, let me know.
