Sorry, I am not navigating the site well.In one of your earlier messages in 1907 you mentioned Your John Poston married a Martha. In it you gave a range of years he was probably born in, near Ludlow, Shropshire . And he died in 1737, I think you said in PA.I have a John Poston who was also born in that area and time period .My John was born 1678 - 1686 but he died in before May 1744 in Charles Co.Maryland.And he married a Susanna .
I have noted the two comments below on his migration to Maryland in 1703:
IMMIGRATION: The Maryland Warrants state that John arrived in the Ship Shrewbury, April 23, 1703 and he was bound over to Henry Brown, Gentleman of Leonard Towne, Maryland 1703.
IMMIGRATION: Sailed from Liverpool,England at age of 17 yrs, bound to Henry Brown for 5 yrs, arriving at Leonardstown,St Marys,MD. Sources above are split, as to departure vrs. arrival at Leonardstown, St Marys,MD on 26 Apr 1703. Shropshire is near LONDON,Eng. John Poston, Immigrant was traced to the Poston farms just North of town of Ludlow in So. Section of Shropshire C. Name was originally Possetorne as shown in the Romesdau (or possibly Domesdau-can't read my handwriting) Book of 1086. In Map of Shropshire shows Possetorne farm. No Postons live at farm now but descendants continue to live in the area; LIST OF IMMIGRANTS TO AMER. Where he lived and raised his family. He and Susanna had 10 children,John, Thomas,Frances, Mary, William, Susanna, Edward, Rebecca, Jeremiah, and Charity.
I descend from William who married Priscilla (we think surname Noe), and from his son, Elias who moved from Trinity Parish, Charles, MD to Hampshire Co, Virginia and married Rebecca Cheshire. He was know as Col Elias Poston from his Militia Service and was involved in politics. They had 12 children and he died in 1802 in Hampshire Co, Virgina.
Do any of these Postons sound familiar to you?I can send you a gedcom of my Personal Ancestral File of this line if it would help. Thanks, Alice Harris, firstname.lastname@example.org
