I don't know if I can be of much help. Most of what I have has been gathered by researching with other cousins and putting together lists based on "what if", rather than cold hard facts. We've been having particular difficulty in finding the true parents of this John Potts.
Here's something I got from Cy Potts:
"Isaac named his daughter Hannah Permelia, and a son George. Hannah in turn named her 1st born Mary and a son John. Most families moved together. Isaac lived in Cherokee, Habersham Co's, in Georgia while John lived in Cass County in Georgia. Isaac also lived in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi."
"All of my information has been passed down through aunts and cousins and what I have found by just plain old digging in Libraries, etc"
We have evidence that John's children were Hiram, Joshua, Isaac, William, Samuel, David & Joel. All of these children except Joshua ended up in GA. Joshua went to TN, AL, KY and MO."
Just from the naming, it does seem that Isaac is party of the family. H eas b. 1798, which fits nicely between the siblings. He named a son George (after his grandfather?), a daughter Hannah Parmelia (after his mother?), a son David (after his brother?).
Isaac was born in SC and migrated west through Georgia, the same as the rest of John + Hannah's kids.
I seem to at one time have been told of a family bible record that helped assign the kids to John and Hannah, but I can't find it right now. I'll keep looking and let you know!
