Margaret: I have not done extensive primary research on this branch of the family but have accumulated data from many sources, some of them on the Internet. I have Eliza Vinnie Pouncey (who married Morris Kervin) as the child of Samuel Pouncey Jr., b. 1800, who went to Mississippi between 1840 and the 1850 census. In the 1840 census, he lived in Covington Co., Ala., his wife and 6 children (no names of children in that census). Samuel Jr. married Elizabeth Higeon (b. 1799), and is recorded as having children named Elizabeth (Eliza Vinnie), William, James, Mary, Samuel III, John and Peter A. Pouncey. I have your Eliza as born 1 Apr 1820 in Butler, Ala., d. 19 Jan. 1905 in Covington Co., Ala., buried in Kervin Cemetery.
Samuel Pouncey Jr. was a brother of John B. Pouncey (my direct ancestor), Polly, Nancy, Betsy, William Jones Pouncey, Peter, Sarah, and Eli Thomas Pouncey--a well documented family.--Temple Pouncey, Plano, Texas
