She was Lucy Jane POUNDER and was born in Bolton in 1871.
Her father was James POUNDER (joiner/builder), born in Stokesley in 1841.His family seem to have previously come from Kirby Wearside - his father was Robert POUNDER born there in 1809.
My Grandmother had the following siblings Mark Hammond POUNDER born Lambeth ABT 1870 Louisa Charlotte POUNDER born in Bolton ABT 1873 Mary Ann POUNDER born in Bolton ABT 1876 Margaret I(sabel??) POUNDER born ABT Bolton in 1878 Kate Ellen POUNDER born in Bolton ABT 1880 John James POUNDER born in Bolton in 1881 Albert POUNDER born in Bolton ABT 1885
Her parents died in 1888 in Bolton.
There is a family tradition that they moved to Canada for a time but I believe that might have been James POUNDER's wife - Isabel (probably HAMMOND).I think I have found her brother John HAMMOND a farmer in grantly near Masham in the 1881 census and he was born in Quebec.
There is also another family tradition of a connection with Masham.I suspect my grandmother spent some of her childhood living with her Grandmother there as one of her sisters is there with Catherine SWALES at Swinton Lodge in 1881 along with another grand-daughter (John HAMMOND's daughter).
I suspect that some of her brothers and sisters stayed in the Bolton area but I have not found any yet.
