O.K. I have found further evidence that my Norris family is related to the Powell family. I have that Anderson M. Norris b. 1807 (who I listed as a witness to the Powell family in Edgefield Co. S.C. documentation) had a son, Anderson Henry Martin Norris b.c. 1850 in Alabama, married Aray Ann Powell, daughter of a James Powell(b.c. 1824 S.C.) and Mary A. Powell who are enumerated in the Pike Co. GA census for 1850.
A. Henry M. Norris, whom Aray Anne Powell married, was hanged in 1887 in Haralson Co. GA for murdering a man he worked with building roads.
I know that parts of Pike county were formed from Henry Co. in the mid 1800's. I have Anderson Norris living on the lot(Dist.20, lot#350) in Harris Co. GA in 1850 that was granted to a William Norriss Rev. Sol. living in Henry Co. GA in the 1827 land lottery. Also, a Sanford Norriss won land from Henry Co. GA in the 1827 land lottery and is erroneously enumerated as "Monford" Norris in The Carroll Co. GA census for 1840 were he won his land in 1827.Anderson Norris moved to Carroll Co. GA by the 1860 census and seemed to be related to William and Sanford. Anderson also named his first son(my gg-grandfather) William E. Norris b 1834 in Greene Co. GA.
Do any of the Powell researchers know who the James Powell is that is living in Pike Co. GA in 1850? Thanks, TRacy
