I have some papers left by my grandmother and father I am trying to verify and source.
At the top of the paper it says "mother was Sarah Matilda Preble (check Kennebunk VR's when you go down); was 2nd wife of Joseph Edward Rumrill,Jr.(b aft1740) Had these four children:Sarah (1816-1858)who married John Noble, Emmaline/Emaline(1822-1895)who married John Osbourne, Susan b 1818 and married Samuel Shattuck, and Caroline who married Charles H. Dodge. I have completed all family lines from present backwards and I am now trying to trace Sarah Matilda back. Another notation said that SMP was daughter of Commodore Preble.I have checked VR's of York with no success Abigail Lampson was one of the wives of Joesph(b abt 1720) who issued Rebecca,Artemus and Asenath. Lucy Stevens his other wife issued JER,Jr.(I'll have to check Joseph(1803) when I go to library since I don't get the 1850 census.) I know nothing about the 4 Rumrill's in Biddeford in 1800, mine were around Fayette,ME and MA.
Does this information help you understand my original question better?
